Herptiles / Lizards / Monitors / White Throated Monitor
At first page

1 | White Throated Monitor is found in south Africa, and very similar to the Savannah Monitor. Until 1989 these two lizards were considered the same species, and like the Savannah, the White Throated is a powerfully built lizard. They have a grey to brown background color with rows of circular, dark edged cream spots across their back that fade with age. What they are distinguished for is the grey or brown head contrasted with a much lighter whitish throat, and thus their common name. Submitted courtesy Greg Rothschild.
