2 | The California Coastal Range Newt, also called the California Newt or Coast Range Newt, is a stocky, medium-sized salamander reaching up to about three and a half inches in length. It is yellowish-brown to dark brown on top with a pale yellow to orange underside and has a rough, grainy skin in its terrestrial phase. Submitted courtesy David Brough.
